Telemedicine in Koh Samui
Speak to an English-speaking doctor by video call from your hotel, villa or boat — professional medical advice wherever you are on the island.
Not every health problem on holiday needs a trip to a clinic. Sometimes you are running a fever and the last thing you want is a scooter ride across Chaweng. Sometimes you are on a boat day to Koh Phangan, or your child wakes up with a rash at midnight and you simply want a doctor’s opinion before deciding what to do next. Telemedicine in Koh Samui gives you exactly that: a video consultation with one of our clinic doctors, wherever you happen to be.
When a video consultation makes sense
Video calls work well for problems a doctor can assess by asking questions and looking — and for deciding whether you actually need to come in at all. Travelers use our telemedicine service most often for:
- Fever, sore throat, cough and flu-like symptoms, when you want advice before travelling anywhere
- Upset stomachs and mild traveler’s diarrhea — what to drink, what to watch for, when to be seen
- Rashes, insect bites and sunburn you can show on camera
- Follow-up after a clinic visit, such as reviewing lab test results or checking on a healing wound
- Questions about an ongoing condition, your medication, or a prescription refill while you are away from home
How it works
Message us on WhatsApp or call +66 83 150 2520 and tell us briefly what is going on. We arrange a video call with a doctor — usually within a short time, as our clinic is open daily with a doctor on call 24 hours. During the call the doctor takes your history, looks at anything you can show on camera, and gives you a clear plan. If medication is appropriate, it can be prepared at our on-site pharmacy for pickup, or brought to you if the doctor comes out to see you.
Honest limits: when a screen is not enough
Telemedicine is a triage and advice tool, not a substitute for hands-on care. If our doctor believes you need to be examined in person, they will say so — and can either see you at the clinic as a walk-in or arrange a doctor visit to your hotel or villa anywhere on the island. Some situations should never wait for a video call: chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of a serious allergic reaction, confusion, or injuries from a motorbike accident all need emergency hospital care immediately.
Costs, prescriptions and insurance
You will be quoted a straightforward consultation fee before the call begins, and you receive proper medical documentation and receipts for your travel insurance claim. For in-person care at our clinic we offer direct billing with most travel insurers, so if a video consultation turns into a clinic visit, the paperwork side stays simple.
Why call Samui Medical Clinic
The doctor on your screen is not an anonymous face in another country — it is the same English-speaking doctor who can see you in person at our walk-in clinic in Chaweng an hour later, backed by an on-site lab and pharmacy. That continuity is what makes telemedicine in Koh Samui genuinely useful: advice first, and real follow-through on the island if you need it.
