Frequently asked questions
Should I take a photo of my rash before I come in?
Yes, please do. Rashes and hives often fade on the way to the clinic, so a phone photo taken when it was at its worst helps the doctor judge how severe the reaction was and choose the right treatment. Note the time it started too.
I already took an antihistamine at my hotel. Is it still worth being seen?
Often yes. Over-the-counter antihistamines help mild itching but may not be enough for widespread hives or facial swelling, and they do nothing for a reaction that is heading towards the throat or chest. A doctor can add a steroid, check nothing more serious is developing and give you a proper plan.
How long does a treated reaction take to clear up?
Itching and swelling usually ease within the first hour of treatment, and most skin reactions settle over one to three days as the medicine keeps working. A short steroid course is finished in a few days. If new symptoms appear after you leave, contact us.
