IV drip in Koh Samui
Rehydration, vitamin and recovery drips administered safely by English-speaking doctors — at our walk-in clinic in Chaweng or at your hotel anywhere on the island.
Why travellers on Samui ask for IV drips
The combination of tropical heat, long beach days, unfamiliar food and the occasional big night out catches many visitors off guard. When you are losing fluid faster than you can drink it back — through sweating, vomiting or diarrhoea — an IV drip delivers fluids and electrolytes straight into the bloodstream, which works considerably faster than sipping oral rehydration salts on your own.
At Samui Medical Clinic we most often place drips for:
- Dehydration from food poisoning, traveller’s diarrhoea or a stomach bug
- Heat exhaustion after too many hours in the midday sun
- Hangover recovery — covered in detail on our hangover IV page
- Vitamin and wellness blends for jet lag, low energy or immune support
- Recovery support during dengue or another febrile illness, when our doctor advises it
Every drip starts with a doctor
An IV drip in Koh Samui should never be a beach-bar gimmick. At our clinic, a licensed, English-speaking physician examines you first: blood pressure, hydration status, your medical history and any medications you take. If something looks off, our on-site lab can run blood tests on the spot before we decide what goes in the bag. The drip itself is placed by trained medical staff using sterile, single-use equipment, and you rest in a private treatment area while we keep an eye on you. Most sessions take 45 to 60 minutes, and no appointment is needed — we are a walk-in clinic, open daily, with a doctor on call 24 hours.
Too weak to come in? We come to you
If you can barely make it out of bed, a doctor can bring the drip to you. We run doctor hotel visits island-wide — Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Maenam, Choeng Mon and beyond — usually arriving within the hour with everything needed to examine you and start treatment in your room or villa.
When a drip is not enough
Some symptoms need a hospital, not a drip. Go to the nearest emergency department immediately if you have severe abdominal pain, vomiting blood, confusion or fainting, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or a high fever with a rash or bleeding gums. Our doctors will always tell you honestly when hospital care is the safer option and can help arrange the transfer.
Prices, insurance and booking
The cost depends on the drip you need, and we confirm the price with you before treatment begins — no surprises. We handle direct billing with most travel insurers, and our on-site pharmacy stocks anything the doctor prescribes alongside your drip. Walk in at our Chaweng clinic, message us on WhatsApp, or call +66 83 150 2520. Not sure whether you need an IV drip in Koh Samui or just a check-over? Start with a quick chat and we will point you the right way.
