Prescription refill in Koh Samui

Ran out of your regular medication while traveling? Our English-speaking doctors can review your prescription and re-prescribe it on the spot at our walk-in clinic in Chaweng.

Ran out of your regular medication on Samui?

It happens to travelers constantly: a checked bag goes missing, a two-week holiday stretches into a month, or the pill organizer simply did not hold enough. Blood pressure tablets, thyroid medication, asthma inhalers, contraceptive pills, cholesterol and diabetes medication — skipping doses of any of these is not something to gamble with while you are far from home. The good news is that a prescription refill in Koh Samui is usually a quick, straightforward visit. One of our doctors reviews what you take, confirms it is safe to continue, and dispenses the medication — or its locally available equivalent — from our on-site pharmacy, often within the same visit.

How a refill visit works at our clinic

No appointment is needed. Walk in any day of the week — we are open daily, with a doctor on call 24 hours for urgent situations. Every refill starts with a short doctor consultation: Thai law requires a physician to assess you before medication is re-prescribed, and it is also good medicine. The doctor will check your history, current dose, and anything that has changed since your last review — blood pressure, symptoms, other medication you have picked up along the way. Brand names differ between countries, so we match your medication by its active ingredient and explain exactly what you are getting. If you cannot easily reach the clinic, our doctors also make hotel and villa visits island-wide.

What to bring with you

The more information you can show us, the faster and safer the refill. Helpful items include:

  • The original packaging, blister pack, or pharmacy label — even an empty one
  • A copy of your prescription, or a photo of it on your phone
  • A letter or medication list from your home doctor, if you have one
  • Your passport and travel insurance details

No paperwork at all? Do not worry — many travelers arrive with nothing but the name of a tablet half-remembered. Our doctors can usually identify the medication from your description and history, and our on-site lab can run quick checks — blood sugar, thyroid levels, kidney function — when a dose needs confirming before it is re-prescribed.

What we can and cannot re-prescribe

Most everyday maintenance medication can be re-prescribed without fuss. Some controlled medicines — certain sleeping tablets, strong opioid painkillers, and stimulant ADHD medication — are strictly regulated in Thailand and may only be dispensed by a hospital, or not at all. If that applies to you, we will tell you honestly and help you find the right pathway rather than leave you guessing. And if you develop chest pain, severe breathlessness, confusion, or signs of a serious reaction after missing doses, do not wait for a refill — go to the nearest emergency hospital immediately.

Costs, insurance, and getting in touch

You pay for the consultation plus the medication itself, and we provide itemized receipts and medical reports for reimbursement. We also offer direct billing with most travel insurers, so in many cases there is nothing to pay upfront. Questions before you come in? Call us on +66 83 150 2520 or message us on WhatsApp — we will confirm whether your medication is available in Thailand before you make the trip across the island.
