Wound care in Koh Samui
Professional cleaning, dressing and follow-up for cuts, burns, road rash and infected wounds — walk in today at our Chaweng clinic.
Why small wounds turn serious in the tropics
Samui’s heat and humidity are hard on broken skin. A graze that would heal quietly at home can become red, weepy and painful within two or three days here, because bacteria thrive in warm, damp conditions and constant sweating keeps dressings moist. Coral scrapes, motorbike road rash and even blisters from new sandals are the wounds we treat most often — and almost every infected wound we see started as “just a scratch” that was rinsed in the sea or covered with a plaster from a 7-Eleven.
Proper wound care in Koh Samui means thorough irrigation, removal of grit, sand or coral fragments, an antiseptic dressing suited to the climate, and a clear plan for changing it. Getting that first cleaning right is the single best way to avoid an infection that could disrupt the rest of your trip.
What we treat at the clinic
- Cuts and lacerations — including assessment for stitches if the wound is deep or gaping
- Motorbike road rash and gravel burns, with careful debridement
- Coral cuts, sea-urchin punctures and reef scrapes
- Burns from exhaust pipes, cooking, sunburn blisters and jellyfish stings
- Infected wounds, abscesses and wounds that will not heal
- Dressing changes and suture removal for wounds treated elsewhere
An English-speaking doctor examines every wound. If there are signs of spreading infection we can take samples and run tests in our on-site lab, and our pharmacy stocks everything needed for your dressing plan, so you leave with treatment started — not a list of shops to visit. Tetanus boosters are available if yours is out of date.
When to seek help urgently
Come in the same day if a wound is deep, was caused by an animal bite, contains debris you cannot remove, or shows growing redness, swelling, warmth or pus. Go directly to a hospital emergency department if you have heavy bleeding that will not stop, red streaks spreading from the wound, fever with shaking chills, or a serious injury after a road accident — see our page on motorbike accident treatment for what to do first.
